The Ponale: from Lake Ledro to Torbole
By MTB along spectacular routes overlooking Lake Garda
For all campers who want to spend a beautiful day on their bicycle admiring magnificent landscapes, the Ponale is the right path: 24.4 km a route with different types of roadbeds, easy to walk or bike on, with a difference in altitude of about 600 meters.
The route starts on the easy cycle-pedestrian track that runs along Lake Ledro and then continues downhill towards the villages of Prè and Biacesa. Here you take the Strada della Ponale, a historic, well-signed and well-kept dirt road, overlooking Lake Garda, which was carved in the rock during the First World War. The Ponale is a great biking excursion for MTB, thanks to the spectacular views on Lake Garda. After reaching Riva del Garda you can go and visit Arco which is famous for its thermal waters and it is a real must for bouldering and climbing enthusiasts. After crossing the picturesque bridge over the Sarca river, you return to the cycle path that runs along the beach of Lake Garda cycling towards Torbole, a popular windsurfing paradise. You can go back by bus, on one of the afternoon or evening rides.
