The caves of Castello Tesino, discovered in 1927, are located at an altitude of 960 m in the gorge carved by the Senaiga torrent between Monte Coppolo and Monte Agaro. With an internal development of about 400 meters, they are the only caves in Trentino open to tourist visits.
The caves are karstic, which means that over the centuries the water has carved out the entrance and numerous galleries creating a fairy-tale landscape rich in stalactites, stalagmites and arabesques.
The cave can be visited along a path which is about 500 meters long, only with a guide and by reservation.
The experience is absolutely unforgettable since, with a constant temperature of about 8 degrees, visitors are accompanied with helmets and lamps by expert guides who have a role not only in teaching but also in nature. Knowing the role played by water in creating these places is undoubtedly interesting, but being able to discover with your own eyes an underground world full of ponds, stalactites and stalagmites is something unique and indescribable.
