Botanical Garden at Viote
A Botanical Garden to enjoy the nature of the Viote del Monte Bondone
The Viote Alpine Botanical Garden, at 1500m above sea level, is one of the oldest and largest in the Alps and in Trentino, with its 10 hectares and a collection that includes about 2000 species of high-altitude plants, many at risk of extinction. A fragile and unique environment that is found between rocky flowerbeds, lakes, peat bogs, flowery meadows and woods.
The Viote Alpine Botanical Garden contributes to the conservation of the biodiversity of plant species in the main mountain ranges of the world. The garden underlines a message regarding our responsibility towards the environment and how we relate to nature, it describes mountain crops, herbal art, medicinal species and climate change.
Every summer the botanical garden, in collaboration with the Science Museum, offers exhibitions, workshops for families, guided tours and special events to enjoy the nature of the Viote del Monte Bondone.
