Castle overlooking the Val di Non with perfectly preserved rooms
Castel Thun, a few steps from Vigo di Ton in Val di Non, is one of the most famous castles in Trentino, which displays not only the original 16th century furnishings but also a relevant library, a rich art gallery and a fine art collection.

Built in the 13th century, until 1992 the castle remained the property of the historic Thun noble family from Trentino, and then became property of the Province of Trento which restored it and opened it to the public in 2010.

The castle dominates the valley from a hill and it is particularly fascinating during the flowering of the apple orchards in spring, and is surrounded by an articulated complex of fortifications consisting of walls, lunar ramparts, lookout towers, patrol path and moat. Particularly noteworthy is the Spanish door, decorated with an enchanting rustication.

On the ground floor there are the public rooms, while on the first we find the lords' rooms, inside which the portraits, the porcelain, the glass, the silverware and every element of the wealthy noble life are perfectly preserved. The sixteenth-century Stanza del Vescovo, a valuable environment entirely covered in Swiss pine is must.
