Belvedere Fort

Learn about life of people during the Great War on the Alpe Cimbra

Fort Belvedere-Gschwent is one of the main Austro-Hungarian fortresses of the 1st World War.

The fort is located to defend the southern Trentino on the Alpe Cimbra, near Lavarone. It is entirely intact and today it is open for visitors. The fort, unlike the other seven fortresses on the plateau, was not demolished in the 1930s as a teaching for future generations and is, therefore, the ideal place to deepen the historical period of the Great War.

Indeed, they created a museum inside the fort, that not only preserves many war relics, but it also allows the visitors, even the youngest, to relive that sad historical moment through multimedia installations. The "Fortress of emotions" is a very intense didactic experience that describes the daily life of life inside the fort and allows you to reconstruct the soldiers' sensory perceptions through voices, sounds and lights.
